How bookings, projects and engagements with CAQA Languages can be cancelled or rescheduled.
This policy explains how refunds, cancellations, replacements, credits and remedies are managed for CAQA Languages. Nothing in this policy limits rights that may apply under the Australian Consumer Law. Refunds and remedies depend on the type of product or service purchased, the reason for the request, whether the product or service has been accessed or delivered, and whether a major or minor problem exists.
No payments are taken through this website. CAQA Languages does not operate an online shop, checkout or self-service booking system. Language training programs, document translation projects, interpreting assignments and other services for learners, organisations and communities are scoped through an enquiry, confirmed in a written quote or engagement, and invoiced under that engagement. This policy sets out our standard cancellation position for individual learners, organisations and community groups alike; where your written engagement states different cancellation terms, the engagement terms apply.
Scheduled training sessions reserve a trainer’s time and, for group programs, a place that could otherwise be offered to someone else. Please give as much notice as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule. Sessions cancelled with reasonable notice before the scheduled start are moved or credited without charge. Late cancellations or non-attendance may be charged where the trainer’s time and materials have already been committed, as set out in your program confirmation.
Interpreting bookings reserve a specific practitioner, often for a specific venue, time and language pairing. If an assignment is cancelled with reasonable notice, the booking is cancelled or rescheduled without charge. Where an assignment is cancelled at short notice or the interpreter attends and the session does not proceed, a cancellation fee reflecting the reserved time and any travel already incurred may apply, as stated in the booking confirmation.
Translation, localisation, subtitling and editing projects begin work soon after confirmation. If you cancel a project before work starts, no service fee applies. If you cancel after work has begun, you will be invoiced for the work completed to the point of cancellation, and everything completed to that point will be delivered to you. Changes to the source material after work begins are handled as a variation rather than a cancellation.
We would always rather reschedule than cancel. Where you ask in advance, we will work with you to move sessions, assignments or delivery dates without penalty wherever practitioner availability allows. Rescheduled sessions keep their original pricing, and credits from cancelled group sessions can be applied to a later program intake by agreement.
Occasionally we may need to cancel or reschedule, for example where a practitioner becomes unavailable and no suitable replacement exists. If we cancel, you may choose between rescheduling at no extra cost or a full refund of any amount already invoiced and paid for the affected service.
Where fees have been invoiced and paid under an engagement, refunds for cancelled or unperformed services are processed back through the original payment arrangement. If a delivered service has a problem, we will remedy it in line with the consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law: for a minor problem we will re-perform or correct the service within a reasonable time, and for a major problem you may choose a refund for the affected service or compensation for any reduction in its value.
